You mean where the muffler connects to the header right? Honestly, to me it just looks like some grime got on the pipe (grease,oil,boot,something from the road) then cooked on there. Have you had the mufflers off recently?
I have to agree with FB and Bodean.... looks like your heel may be contacting the pipe when you're walking the bike. Nothing there to indicate an exhaust leak and it's in the wrong position for an engine leak. Check your boots for light melting.
It looks like you used some type of black sealer when you put your muffler on atleast thats what the picture looks like from arond the clamp.
If so could it be melting?
buel, looks to me like yer confusing the edge of the shield shining on the round edge chrome of the muffler like a mirror as being black sealer...
If there were sealer there, it'd be under the shield, further up at the end of the muffler forward of the clamp. Remember, the muffler fits OVER the header pipe!
I'd go with boot mark, from the way it 'lays' on the muffler.
