In any company you need some people to stop stupid things. (and stupid interview questions)

This is why taxpayers are on the hook for paying a $7500 subsidy for each GM Volt. I and why we have ethanol. And soon a band on 'assault weapons'

I work for a large technology company, and and here's how I would think out of the box:

For less money and time, and sell or trade the bike for one that has ABS and move on. This approach has the benefit of the allowing more time to ride an spending less time dicking around with brakes.
I see merit in each of these opposing views.

The line between possible and practical is wide and gray. Differing points of view are desirable, and necessary, even in a large company. My career was in the Aerospace industry and these types of debates were common.

In the case of the OPs original question my response would be this... If you could find a wrecked/stolen/damaged late model ABS bike with everything needed cheaply, then scavenging all the needed items for installation onto your bike is a practical solution, if you are going to do the work yourself. If you are going to pay someone to do the work, then it becomes less practical. If you had to go out and buy new, everything needed, it really becomes impractical.

Bottom line - It boils down to dollars, cents, and time/effort. Is it worth it? That's for each individual to decide.

I agree, and I apologize for the huge thread fork, but I will leave it at this:

Its Arctic Citrus Farmers (and managers that hire them), that get you fiascoes like this: http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articl...000000037.html

It is possible, but not ocst effective. You could buy a new bike cheaper than you could convert abs.

Sounds to me like you prolly make enough money not to have to worry about it either way. Go through the time, money and effort to convert or buy another frigging bike. I wish it would rain and wash the salt off the roads so I could ride....

As a prospective employee I would have told you of course oranges can be grown at the north pole but it would be foolish to attempt it because it would be much cheaper to have oranges flown in from Florida or California, then to pay for the infrastructure that would be needed to accomplish this idiotic feat. Even though thinking outside the box does not necessarily make one smarter, I'm sure I wouldn't have gotten the job.

The same analogy holds true to your original question. Can it be done ? Absolutely. Is it the most cost effective way to get anti-lock brakes on a motorcycle. I'm sure it isn't. It would be much cheaper to buy a bike that already has them.

There is something to be said for pragmatism.
