Default Fork assembly questions.

Wondering if you need the fork oil seal installer tool or what else can be used. Also anyone running amsoil fork oil?

Thanks,
Mike

I used a 1.5 inch PVC pipe which is a little to small so I split it into 1/4 sections half way up a 2 foot long piece with a circular saw. Make sure you clean all the little pieces of plastic from the cutting. To install the seal I used the big washer on top of the seal to not mess up the seal.

Take the 1.5 piece of PVC and cut it in half length wise, tap one side of the seal than go 180 and repeat until seal is set. I tried using a solid piece of PCV and ended up breaking an end of my dead blow hammer.

You can also use the old seal as a cushion between the pvc pusher and the new seal.

Watching that video took all my apprehension of taking my forks apart away. I was having a hard time visualizing the use of the PVC pipe. Thanks sanman4ever great post!
