I moved back to Maine after living in Georgia for over 20 years.
Yes, the weather in the south is much more tolerable (most of the year) but I just got sick of the traffic, crime, people, and mold.
With daytime temps struggling to reach the teens, nighttime lows between 10 & 20 below zero, and snow/ice covering our roads until spring, the bike will have to take a long, cold nap.
So far, I'm not regretting the decision to move.
Ride safe and enjoy the miles!
Traffic yes ATL sucks.
Crime> damn where did you live?
People> been to Maine many a times same people/attitude differnt accent.
Mold> on my trees outside.
I'll take the extra 4-6 months riding. Winter bike work can be done between the hours of 11pm and 4am.
I actually don't like GA either but hey it;s where I live oh well..
Just today i was planning on doing some tidy up work and damit the sun saw me and come out a shining and tossing down the heat! forced me to ride all morning and afternoon. now I am behind the curve again. l
I took a ride to the grocery this afternoon and took the long route. It was mid 50's and a pleasant change from two weeks of rain, cold, ice, and sleet. It was my first ride since Christmas Eve. Tomorrows high is around 50 and I may get back out again.
Before riding I worked in the yard in shorts and a sweatshirt. Tuesdays high is supposed to be 28. Southern winters are a roller coaster but better than the frozen north.
After our week or 2 of winter with highs in the 50s, warmed enuff in the 70s to be riding again... wasted my whole day riding and at the outdoor barbaque at the local HD dealer... another wasted day... I'll need the leathers tonight though
damn it, could not find the sunscreen to go riding...then i remembered i left it in the boat yesterday when i was out checking out the new trim tabs. thank goodness i found it, nothing worse than a sunburn down here in south texas in january. got an early tee time for tomorrow so i can watch the football games in the afternoon.
