I want to change out the shocks on my 09 SG, I am thinking Progressive or Oem CVO SG shocks..what else is out there that I should consider? Would like a little input before shelling out $500 or more.
If you want top performance there are several shock manufacturers offering premium models at premium prices. If you want better performance than stock but want to save some money I recommend the Progressive 412 series. You can get them in your choice of lengths, with standard or HD springs for 2-up riders. Best of all, they go for around $210 at Phat Performance!

After my OEM shocks kept leaking air after only a couple years of service, I bought a ser of the Progressive 440HD shocks. I'm happy with them in local riding as well as long distance.

Call Howard at HDF sponsor Motorcycle Metal. He custom builds shocks with several price breaks and will talk you through the merits of each. There are a lot of us on here very grateful to him and his expertise!
Bikers Choice are made by Progressive for half the price but don't give you the lifetime guarantee. They have different lengths and HD for 2 up riding.

First , let me thank everyone for their replies. I have a question..are the 944's and the 412's are they basically different on the weight capacities I understood that the 944's don't really kick in until 285 pounds. My wife and I together don't weigh that much. I'm trying to understand what the different series mean.
This is the first I heard about the 444 not kicking in until you reach 285 lbs. The 444 come in standard or HD (heavy duty) springs. Search the forum, there are many references to the Progressive shocks.
