Ok dumb question here so I would understand some laughing and jokes. But I am still learning about all things Harley here so I'm going to ask anyways. LOL!! Mine's an 07 Cop Road King. Has the 103 with the 6 speed trans. And of course EFI. I've added Vance and Hines true duals, and the stage 1 air cleaner kit. I do not have a tuner (yet) and have been reading about how they work and which one I would get. I did take it to the dealer to get a new download after I had the pipes and stage 1 installed (and yes I did them both myself believe it or not LOL!!) It runs good but I know with a tuner it can run A LOT better hence me researching them. But what exactly is this about?

And given my current set up should I get one? I do have a little pop on decel and read this would probably clear it up. Plus the other added advantages I read about on their website. Would I even need a tuner if I do get this? I do not plan on any more engine upgrades too by the way. This looks simple enough that I (not exactly mechanically inclined ) could do so I thought I'd ask in here first. Appreciated all.

They will resolve any issue with the bike running lean, take about 5-10 minutes to install, and work. That being said, a tuner works better as it addresses a lot of other areas such as timing, A/F throughout the curve rather than just more fuel. If you want cheap and good enough, get the Xied, they will work.

I didn't know the 07 had O2 sensors? If you do just plug the Xieds in, very simple install. If you don't have O2 sensors, you don't need them. Go with V&H Fuel pak or TTS, or Power Comander, or a tuner like that.

Put them on my 07 UC 2 months after I got it new. They have been on ever since with no problems. Did exactly as advertised.

They are a one size fits all solution.
As has been said above, they will tell your ECM that the bike is running leaner than it is so it will add fuel, and fuel only. Pretty simple. straight forward, generic way to richen them up.

With one of the aftermarket tuners you can actually adjust most of the ECM variables
which will not only help cool the beast, but tailor the tune to your riding style, and your exact motor and set up.

They are an apples to oranges comparison as far as flexibility and bang for buck, but are a cheap alternative (allthough $2 worth of components for $109 too me is not cheap)to buying, say a Power Vision tuner.

I have the PV mounted on my bike as I like to monitor many of the actual real time vitals as I am cruising along.

I also keep multiple maps in it so I could stop along the road, and load a different one netting better MPG for the next 600 miles of Nebraska highway versus the mountain roads we came out of in Colorado.

I am simply a user of a few of the aftermarket as well as MoCo tuner options available, and am sold on the PV, for many reasons.

Ok thanks so far guys. Your answers are pretty much what I was thinking. I think if I'm eventually going for a tuner, I'll just wait and save for that. I've been reading a lot about the power vision and am liking the features it's boasting. I may just go for that. But now I wonder why these XIEDs are even out there. If (most) everyone goes with some kind of tuner, why get these? Would they still have some kind of benefit even with a tuner? Either way, I'm probably going with a power vision eventually.

VXied's are a bit of a poor man's tuner.

The biggest problem with stock bikes is that they run very lean and hot. The VXied's fool the 02 sensors that they are running too lean, and need extra fuel. Most people like the additional power, quicker throttle response, cooler running, smoother running, and better sound from a slightly richer than stock fuel mixture.

The forums are full of people who get tuners and are unsatisfied with fooling around with all the different maps to get the bike running right. As posted above, many need different maps for different riding conditions.

The Vied's are snap in simple to install, and have an adjuster on them if you wish to change your mods, otherwise they are click and forget.

For 1/3rd the price, many find them the ideal solution to a lean, hot running machine.

I installed some Supertrapp 4" Stouts and the SE Stage 1 A/C. No plans to do more, that's what I've always done and it's good enough for me. If you search, you'll see some threads/comments I've made about the XIED's and compared to various combo's through my upgrades. Suffice it to say that I think they are a good way to resolve the vast majority of issues, at a fraction of the cost, that you'll have. A noticeable improvement in the areas already mentioned (cooler, throttle response, pulling, etc.) for sure! As others said, it takes about 15 minutes to install, and you'll see an immediate improvement.

If by some reason you REALLY think you need a tuner (and I think most would agree you don't), here is perhaps a middle ground option between the XIED's and a full on tuner. You get a stock map, and two custom maps, and you can switch between them (why, I'm not sure). Anyway, check this out. I *might* have gone this route had I read this before I did my upgrades. At this point, I see no need for it, but I think it's a great option.

Tried them in my 08 FXDL and worked OK. Added a Scremin Eagle breather so went to a Cobra Fi2000 PowrPro Tuner, LOVE IT!!!
