I must really be the odd man out on speaker lids but i have no issues with leaks or sound. and to boot i am running a stock radio with no amp, and hd saddle bag lids and speakers. i disconnected the tour pak speakers and used that connection for the saddle bags. I hear everything just fine at highway speeds both solo and 2up. sound faded more towards the rear saddle bag. And yes this does suprise me because as far as hearing goes i should be deaf! 10 years touring in the 80s and infantry Army in the 90s. i cant hear what I just typed but i do hear the rear speakers on the iGlide!

I had leaks so I got rid of them. FYI, the lid becomes much heavier and you lose a small amount of top space.

for the money, i'd do a chopped tourpak with speakers in it

Wow lot of different opinions here after installing the hd lids I don't really hear them at highway speeds but know that it increased my volume and sound quality you can definitely tell a big difference with a amp, all around big plus but I have a lot of wind deflectors, yes do them.

No issues at all. Fuller sound at all speeds, decent bass from them. I hate the tour pack, love the lowered look on my bike so lid speakers are the answer. Plus it's somewhat custom.

Thanks for the comments to everyone.

I have noticed that my system sounds full running both the fairing and lower speakers. I am also running a 500w 4 channel amp.

after hearing my brothers street glide, i'd say to avoid leaks, but still make your system sound way better, put an amp and a sub in one of the bags. made a pretty big difference with his setup.

Like has been said, they look cool parked, but you cant hear them riding unless stopped or slow. I have them but I love the fact that the tunes crank at slow speeds and stopped, I dont have an issue with leaks and I love loud tunes so highway or parked I would do it again. I love my music loud, maybe cause I am def in one ear.

a sub in the bag adds a lot of bass when stopped or slow rolling

There was another thread on this subject. I can't comment much regarding leakage yet but I love the sound. This is what I posted in the other thread:

I have Hogtune speakers in the faring and Boom saddlebag speakers and lids. I am running (2) 140W Hogtune amps, both inside the faring, one amp for the and one for the saddlebag speakers.

When I got it all installed, I took the bike to my dealer and they reflashed the HK, enabling the front/rear fader that now shows up in the setup menu. I run the AVC control at 3 bars and the fade control to about 60% to the rear.

This was the single best mod I have done to date. Sounds awesome at ALL speeds!!! I run the volume below the half way point and with the AVC control, sound is great even at 70. I get a perfect blend of front to rear sound and better base with no distortion. Totally thrilled with this setup! And when riding 2 up, I don't have to blast my eardrums for the OL to hear, the sound is great for her.

Anyone with saddlebag speakers that claim they can't hear them, well then the system isn't set up right. With the right amps and fade control....this **** rocks!!!!
