v factor shocks
i got a 09 rk and i want to lower it down about an inch so i can get a better footing on the gound. ive been looking at rear shocks and found vfactor shocks. reviews on dennis kirk have been good and the price is nice too. has anyone else used these shocks and what do you think of them? Should i go with the heavy duty or the normal ones?
You get what you pay for. A set of Progressives would be a good investment.
I put the cheapest I could buy on my softail[Ultima shocks] Adjust them too soft, they bottom out, just stiff enough to not bottom out,it rides like a hardtail.
You're supposed to lower the front the same amount,a bigger job. Any time you lower the bike, the handling can change. If you lower it,ride carefully for a little while. I lowered my 93 classic 1&1/2 or 2 inches [long time ago] and the first time I took a long sweeping curve,I got into a high speed wobble. Took the lowering blocks back off and sold 'em on fleabay.

There are other ways of improving your footing, such as getting your seat trimmed, so your legs get a straighter run to terra firma, or even just wearing sturdy heavy-souled boots. This a regular subject, so take a little time reading through a few previous threads.
Those shocks are for softails, not touring bikes, so are not suitable for your bike. If you do buy new shocks, save yourself a lot of money and don't buy cheap ones! You have an expensive bike, so buy decent shocks - you're worth it!
