I've just installed heritage-style bars on my '13 FLHR and I think I need more height and reach back. Thinking of 4 inch curved risers. Has anyone used risers with these bars? If so, were any cable extensions needed? Were they HD risers (the catalog makes it sound like you can only use risers with a 1.25" bar)?
There's a member on here with a 2009 Road King, Custom, that has a great thread on this. Sorry I couldn't find it after a couple tries. BlueRoadKing 09 or something similar. He's on quite a bit and will probably post up.
I believe he bought aftermarket risers. NO cable changes needed. It was a nice set-up and he had good pics.

Heres my take, personally I hated the heritage bars on my cop king. Yanked em in favor of these...http://www.jpcycles.com/product/500-849.... only needed to change my brake line. Only offering as a suggestion because these bars are probably cheaper than risers, and for me at 6'1" they fit like a glove. Nice comfortable height, very little pullback.
That's it, good job! I actually really liked my Heritage bars for fit and function (6'3" 35 sleeve). Good riding position and nice rise. Mine were stainless and only one inch in diameter, so as I chromed and customized more, the SS looked yellow next to the chrome. I went with apes. I have pics in my album i you want some ideas on heritage bars.
For your consideration, the pull back on the Heritage bars are 7 inches. The pull back on my Carlini Flying Apes are 12 inches and so are the ever popular Wild One Apes. Harley Fat Apes have a 7.25 inch pull back. I think 7 inches is the sweet spot for me. I May go to Gansta Apes to get my 7 inch pullback again.
I guess it depends if you prefer a slouching seating position and/or dangling arms. Opposed to more erect sitting position and straight armed position. Take note of how you position your arms on your car's steering wheel, for comfort. Hope this helps.
Good luck...

Thanks!

The part number for 4' curved riser for the 1" bar is 56066-82A. I am thinking of doing the same thing. I already have the heritage style bar but have not installed it yet. Was going to do that first to see how it felt then go with the riser if I felt like I needed a little more height and pullback.
