Did you send your jugs to him or do an exchange? Did you have your heads done? Just wondering how long it took you to get your kit?
Oh... I bought the kit and will be sending my jugs back. Didn't wand my motor sitting torn apart for too long with a chance of something getting in the holes. It's a $300 core charge.
Take your time, make sure you have all parts & tools needed, review instructions, take your time.
A large expandable hose clamp can be used as a ring compressor... tricky but does the job.
Check the ring gap to cylinder wall
Check the weight of the new pistons vs old pistons. Larger pistons will be heavier but compare the difference between the two sets.
Lube everything that's metal to metal
Use new lifters with a new cam
Check oil pump for scoring
Replace as many old parts... gaskets & such as you can while its opened up
Just my opinion ....
Thanks for the tips. Got one of your shields and can't believe the difference between yours and a standard shield of the same size.
Just finished putting together my kit. Tomorrow ill installed pipes ad start up. Popsicle stick method is the easiest way. Worst part of the build is the throttle body. Everything else is straightforward..
I noticed that there isn't much description of that portion while watching the videos. Any tips or things to look out for? Do you really have to take alot of it apart or can it come off and just hang on the side by the cables? I replaced the throttle cables when I installed the apes. Not sure what else is hard about it since that's the farthest I've gone but it looks like it's just plugs.
Thinking of doing the 107 jugs and pistons and I am curious about this statement. I have already went to TW6-6 cams and Woods directional lifters. Was this statement to say "Don't use stock lifters and cams?" or are you saying you need to replace ANY cams and lifters when doing this? I wouldn't think I would have to open up the cam chest at all since I already did the cam upgrade and I would think replacing the stock cams would be a given.
I think he means if u are replacing cams replace lifters at same time or don't use old lifters on new cams. Go for it no need to open up your cam chest

Yes, you can leave the TB attached to the cables and tie it up on the backbone or from the handlebars.
He may have meant getting the manifold bolts started which can be challenging at times.
