The way We dress?I never knew that beemer riders were so worried about fashion but I should have known. I guess it's that whole queer eye for the straight thing.

I'm sure glad you saw the light.Welcome to the Brotherhood and the forum.

I have been riding for 40 years. I have owned Honda's, Harley's, and BMW's. If I was only allowed one word to describe the hardcore people of these three brands it would be as follows:
Honda people are Gay.
BMW people are cheap.
Harley people are crazy.

Now since I have owned all three Brands I guess that makes me a little bit of each. I did not know that about myself. However there are exceptions in each group.

Now, if you are confused and can't figure out which brand you really like there is a simple way to figure it out. Buy one of each and set them side by side in the garage. At the end of a year check the odometers. My results were : Harley 4000 miles, BMW 1500 miles, and Honda 500 Miles. Then I kept the Harley, sold the BMW for half what I paid for it, and practically gave the Honda away. Yes, this is a true story.

Why is it at Sturgis Everyone I talk to is great. Barely a cross word. Nobody cares about what ya ride/what ya do. A gathering of people who waited all year for a well deserved bike get-a-way. Maybe it's the Veteran thing, maybe a HD thing. I duuno.

What I do know is that I love riding my RK, just like I loved riding my Beemer. On the other side is the phoniness of some of the riders on this forum at times. Cheap/Gay/Etc are labels that people use when their brain unplugs and their *** does the talking.

I enjoy mechanical vehicles and the enthusiasm that brings about great conversation. I spend little time labeling others. With very little effort I have found guys/ladies riding all sorts of rides and have forged some damn nice friendships.

I think the older I get (pushing 60) the more I appreciate friends....not what the f**k they ride.

Rant over...respect to all.......

I didn't mean to rowl ya raporte. I was kinda poking fun at us. I still own two old Beemers ( 59 and 62) Along the way I've met a lot of great people. It never really mattered if they were gay, crazy, or cheap. Just an observation. Again, didn't mean to strike a nerve.

welocme to the dark side ---- I have always loved HDs on my 2nd one--I like the clothes and the chrome thing---but the sound and ride cannot be duplicated.

I was born in 1955 and there was a Hydra-Glide in the yard. My Dad beingan auto mechanic with self taught HD wrenching skills, he always seemed to be rebuilding his own or someone else's ride over the next 20 years. He always told me that riding an HD was something that got into the blood and would change a man forever. Lord knows that I embarassed him on more than one occasion by coming home on a Honda, Yamaha or some other metric ride, but when I actually got my first Harley, (64 Sportster) I soon realized exactly what he meant. Except for a few short years during my career in the Navy, I've never been without one, and now that I'm retired and a civilian again, I'll never be without one again. Even if all I can do is just look at it and listen to it in the yard. Welcome to the fold "benrae". Now you can honestly say, "If Ihave to explain, you wouldn't understand".........glp

I bought a brand spankin new FLHS in 1980 after coming from a 900 Kaw. A few years after had to sell the Harley for marital reasons and later bought a Gold Wing, had it for one season and that was it. Not knocking any other brands, but all the years between then and now I knew there were no other options for me but the thump of the Vtwin.

Enjoy every mile.
