Their have been reports of stations selling regular gas from the premium pump. Just saying
no doubt.

I question the quality of high octane gas if it has ethanol in it. How many vehicles besides us bikers use premium anymore? How long does the gas sit in the tank at the station? AND , we all know that ethanol has a low shelf life, saying that I would try something like 105+ as an additive to see if it helps. Just thinking !!

Look for gas stations without ethanol, http://pure-gas.org/index.jsp

My personal experience leads me to believe that a 103 is just too lean, and it is sometimes going to ping. ECM should take care of it, but it didn't in the case of our 2. A PCV seemed to solve the problem.

Does the 103ci come with the exhaust pipes of the 96ci or are the pipes dimensioned accordingly ? I only found such info concerning the silencers of the 107ci.

I will get the occasional ping out of my 11 EG. (pipes w/ cat and stock AC) also under just right right load and elevation. I was riding in the foothills yesterday too at about 2500 ft and had a slight ping a couple of times. Even though there is less air at elevation the cold air is much denser. I'm not worried about it and figure I will resolve it with a set of Xieds.

I rode a stock 2102 Road Glide in Vegas and it sounded like a bag of marbles were in the engine the entire day, even under the lightest load. I figure the last guy filled it back up with 87 octane, so gas could be an issue.

Don't be afraid to downshift on long uphill grades. Especially at higher altitudes.

My carbed bike has run just fine up to 12,000 feet in the Rockies. Sure you loose some power, but a quick down shift and it works fine.

Would a PC5, for example, take care of the problem? Or, would I have to reset it when I got to higher elevations? Or, a Veid/Xeid. Would I have to adjust it at the higher elevations?

Hi
I live at about 4700' in the SoCa mountains and have a 2012 103 Fatboy. I thought the big motor would lug me around these mts and found out real fast these motors do not like low RPMs, it has a 6 speed keep the revs around 3000 in the mts and you'll be fine. It isn't like flat land riding..
