Default Iba 50 cc

How many of you are IBA riders and have undertaken the 50 CC. (Coast to Coast in 50 Hours).

I am an IBA rider having completed the SS (1000 miles in 24 Hours) and the BB Gold (1500 miles in 24 hours) And am considering the 50CC for my summertime adventure.

I plan to do this on a 2012 FLTRXSE. Best i can tell using mapquest it will be approx 2,345 miles from Jacksonville Fl to San Diego CA. Obviously, will probably ride more than that with stops, detours and other mini sidetrips off the freeway to obtain gas.

I have reviewed the IBA website and it appears no new stories since 2008, so i am thinking most are not posting even if they complete the ride. Wanting to hear any comments on this potential undertaking and any preparations you might have undertaken for your touring bike

Sorry I'm of no help, hope you write a ride report though if you do it.

Hell, from the title I thought maybe you were talking about one of those Korean 50cc scooters.

I did this ride with four others leaving from Jacksonville heading west to San Diego as you have described. I'm not sure I would repeat the ride with that many other riders.

We did it in just under the 50 hour limit due to a mid-night storm in west Texas (my NEXRAD equipped GPS paid for itself that night by finding a tornado before we rode into it).

No special prep to our bikes as we all had previously completed other IBA rides and took ques from those. I'm confident you learned quite a bit on the ones you've done.

It is a long ride with lots of saddle time. We found it imperative to stick as closely as possible to our ride plan, maintain a rigid fuel stop routine, and keep track of those little gas receipts no matter what.

Last but not least, make sure you know how to get to your final stop and be certain to have good lodging already lined up at the end of the ride.

We mistakenly checked into one of those rent-by-the-quarter-hour places and all of us took turns through the rest of the night keeping an eye on our bikes. A $200-a-night room didn't seem so bad after that.

Ride safe and good luck!
