I have to agree with one of the other people who posted about the Raod Glide. If you're going after a touring hotrod bike, which to me the SG is, you'd be much better off with a Road Glide. Better handling, more aggressive style and you can still add all the parts that would make it an Ultra.

Traded in my road king, which I liked for a 08 street glide. I love the street glide! It is nimble, fast, comfortable and cool looking. I can not wait for the New England winter to disappear so I can ride it again.

After riding a Softail for 12 years I finally got a new SG in 2011. I still love the ST, but wouldn't go back now that I've ridden this beauty for a year and a half. Once you get it dialed into your style of riding you'll love it.

Couldn't be happier with my SG, once you flick the stock seat and buy a more suitable one for the Mrs (drastically reducing the winging from behind after an hour) you're on!
Plenty of other mods for personal preference; eg windshield (KW 8.5" is a sound investment)

I went with Progressive 940 at 13 inch, same as stock. Easy to set and forget by hand. Once I figured out my sag for one up and then two up they're nice.

I haven't had much luck with these stock air shocks that came with either of my bikes.

Seems as though they just loose air? Least mine do or will? And it's not like I have them setting for long periods they just leak or loose air. Maybe it's an atmospheric condition or sun spots?

UPDATE: It was the Progressive 940 13 inch I put on not the 944 which is the replacement for the 940. The 940 are no longer available? I think? duh oh!

Great styling to start with, not dated at all. Change the seat and shocks for touring, maybe passenger floorboards.

The rest is personal: Bars, stereo, windshield and fork baffle (wind management), I/E/T (intake, exhaust, tune).

Love it.

Never a harsh bump? I find that hard to believe.

Same set-up, but the SG has 12" shocks, 1" shorter than the EG.

"More aggressive"? Better handling will show where? On the track with a heavier front end? Or simply less steering input needed in crosswinds? SG/EG owners don't care.

Agreed, I have a problem with the concept - possible leakage, need a device to add/subtract air (granted a wrench/cylinder is needed for others).

I had a 07 Ultra classic and put 60,000 on it in 4 years. We rode every where. One of the best touring bikes made.
Got a Street glide, it is a cvo but it is still a street glide with lots of chrome.
other than the shocks I like it as much if not more than the Ultra we had.
I have 12,000 miles on it presently. I will probably do 20,000 this summer.
I tired the road glide but did not like it, but that is me.
I suggest rent one for the weekend to see if it is for you. A test ride is worthless to compare if you like it or not.
I do miss the intercom and cb but not enough to add it.
Beside my wife talks too much when we ride. This way I have a excuse not to stop for every yard sale we pass. LOL
You can add the tourpak and make it quick change, that is what I did. I can go from The clean look of the street glide to the tourpak in about 5 minutes.
Oh, it does not have air shocks

it's you money do what you like and enjoy

I've owned both, a 2010 Heritage, I traded it for a 2012 Street Glide, which I still own. I love the Street Glide you can do so much more too it. I put legends air ride on it and it's bad ***!!
