To me backrests are like windshields. I really hate the way they interrupt the "flow" of my bike. So I look for easily detachable products that I can take off quickly for short runs when I don't really need them.

I too will put in my vote for a back rest. Installed one and wouldn't be without it.

Without a doubt my adjustable back rest has proven over and over that on long rids it a must

I think you got the message but I just want to add, in addition to the comfort; I tend to ride spritely through the corners and like the way my backrest supports/orients/'plants' me... I can feel/push against it as I finesse the corners with counter-steer/lean... Nice feeling, almost as nice as a horny damsel holding on tight pressing her **** in your back in a hurry to get to the motel...

Yes ! ! It takes an incredible amount of tension away from your shoulders.

I am using the adjustable HD one and would not ride any long distance without it. I am glad I have the adjustments as I can reach down and change it on the fly if I need to.

I'm using harley adjustable with a mustang seat,even makes backing up easier,won't leave home without it.

I don't have back issues. That said, after a few hours on my FLHTK, my back would be sore. I purchased and installed a Mustang backrest. No more sore back. I changed nothing else on the bike.
