Default Installed Adj backrest today- Question

I installed the adjustable back rest today. All went well until the end and they are talking about some sticky "seat wear protector" pad type thing- I read the instructions several times and couldn't figure out where it goes or what they are talking about- any hints? It's a balck square about 2.5" square. sticky on one side

Mine was used when I installed itso I didn't get one, but I seem to remember something about that pad attatching to the underside of the seat itself where the seat makes contact with the bracket.

You place it on seat on the front side of the backrest bar to prevent it from rubbing your seat if you pull the backrest forward to allow the passenger to get on the bike.

If you look at where your backrest mates to the receiver, the spring has a small piece that extends at the end. When you tilt your backrest forward, that spring will catch your seat and tear it. Take your seat off and place that patch underneath just up flush to the top of the seat. It will help it you form and bend it a little before you remove the backing. Good Luck!

Easy to see, just stick it in the slot of the seat where it contacts the metal when you move the seat. I also put some electrical tape on the bottom area of my seat all around where the metal may contact it.
Anything to prevent a seat tear, Bro.

I use to have one of these. One other tip is put some clear film on rear fender where the adjustment cable lies as this will rub fender paint over time.
