Every bike I've ever bought (10 so far), has been a spur of the moment, wake up in the morning and say to myself: "Shoot, I think I'll buy a new bike today!
Congrats on the new bike, but especially on the new brake switch!
I violated the prime law of motorcycles - I was in the Harley dealer with the wife and she saw me drooling over a SG...said, "if you want it, just get it" - and stupid me, I tried to be responsible and said I'd wait until our house sold. You got it - our house sold, and we just got overcome by events, and now - no Harley. I'm in 'hint-dropping' mode again with a birthday coming up in just over 2 weeks...we'll see, the local dealer just got in a '13 SG in Midnight Pearl (the fastest color, I've heard) with CC and ABS...and it looks like it needs a good home.
It won't be there long better stake a claim on it.
LOL! I love this story man. Congrats on the new scoot, she's a beauty. Looks like she found a good home there!
Similar event for me, but I took a different approach with my other half.
Went in one day only looking to buy an exhaust bolt for my Sportster but managed to come home a few hours later riding my StreetGlide.
Didn't bother telling the GF about it until after the fact- cuz I knew the flack that I would hear about it. I put on my best straight-face and told her that I made this purchase for "us".
She didn't really buy that one right away, but she does enjoy riding with me.
She came to her senses after one ride and realized she is way better off on the back of my Glide than she was on the back of the 48.
Great story. I am way to methodical to ever make a purchase like that. I have to think about major purchases for quite awhile before I can commit to spending that kind of cash. I do love the look of the Limiteds. Nice bike.
In addition to the obvious, you know what else is really cool about this thread? It isn't sprinkled with comments from the nay-sayers on the Forum that would say you paid too much for your new ride. IMO you pay what you think is fair, get out the door and have a blast on your new ride - which is exactly what you did. Good for you, man.
Ride safe and enjoy your new Limited. Great bike, but I'm biased.
47,400 miles on my '09 Street Glide and the brake switch finally crapped out. I could care less if the brake light stayed on, but I really miss the cruise control!!
So, I hop on the bike and head to my local Dallas HD. I buy a switch (yes, I know there is a recall...but I ain't waiting for them when I can do the work myself) and walk around a bit. While walking around, I get a text from my GF:
"whatcha doin?"
"Walking around Harley. had to buy a new brake switch"
"ok, pick a pretty color"
So, when you get a text like that, you do what every man SHOULD do....come home with a new bike! So, 3 hours later, me and my new brake switch, attached to a 2013 Ultra Limited, were on the way home!
