Putting on 12" apes on my 2012 street glide....going to single caliper in front also...Question is what length brake line is needed??....wont have that junction block under the trees so it will be one single line....AND what brand lines is everyone running??
I just went thru this. The line to the block is 44", then just measure your line from the block to the caliper. But if you have abs you don't want to measure from your master cylinder to the caliper. You want to measure from the abs module to the caliper. The line WanaRyd sent me is 64". They said that is the standard length they use on their abs bikes with a single caliper.
Just ordered a 56" from magnum cables in blacko pearl to match the rest of my cables. I have 18" apes on a 2000 RK. The line has a swivel fitting in the middle (fitting will be hidden in nacelle) to prevent kinks so you don't have to worry about the angles on your fittings being perfectly matched to your bike. Don't forget it's a good idea to switch to the 9/16" bore master cylinder. Which will require a different size line fitting, 7/16th I believe.
WOW ... thanks for replies...I want it to be one singel line....Gonna get rid of the block under the tree...Have had dented fender syndrome before.. as far as changing out the master cylinder I called performance machine and asked this question and they said I could use the same mastercylinder (bike non-abs)....ANy more inf from you all would be great...Like the swivel idea inline..!!!!... What angle is used off of the master cylinder??... i thinkn 90degrees would be good so it would kick the line back towards the bars....30 degrees wouldlet it hanginthe air too much?:?....Let me know what thoughts are..Gonna go wiht magnum blackpearl cuz of the swivel!!

2012 master is fine. master is 30* and caliper is 90*
For ABS equipped bikes going to a single caliper, the only line that gets replaced is the one going from the ABS module to your caliper. That line is 64"
Switching to a 9/16" bore master cylinder is a good idea, if not the brake lever is a little stiff. I did not change mine I just got used to the lever feel. Also if you are buying an aftermarket rotor I would recommend a two piece rotor. The OEM Brembo calipers tend to pulsate with a one piece rotor.
