Hey, everyone. I've been lurking for a while.
I have a 09 Electra Glide Classic. I think my my stereo has developed an issue. Everytime I start the bike the stereo starts on AM radio. Even if I had Cd playing or my MP3 running. I cant for the life of me remember if it was like this last season. I guess my question is, Is this normal?
Mine did something similar. A few days later i couldn't start the bike. The battery must have been on it's last legs. I replaced with a Dekka and all is well. It may be a sign of a weak battery. If thats not it, then you may want to contact Iron Cross.
If your battery is very weak, and the current draw of the starter motor pulls system voltage down below a certain threshold, your HK could be reacting to that extreme dip in it's voltage supply. Be sure and check your battery leads and make sure they are clean and tight. Also, consider having the battery tested.
If it turns out to be the battery, get a new one, and then get a trickle charger, hook a "pigtail" to the battery, and plug it in after every ride --- not just over the winter. Extends battery life, as well as keeping battery charged.

You might be correct but when I pull the master fuse on mine I have no problem with the radio afterwards. Am I correct in thinking that pulling the fuse is the same as disconnecting the battery when it comes to the power supply for the radio?

I think it turns on when it cranks, but the voltage dips and it forgets the last mode it was in. My battery was on a tender but something must have gone bad in it. It would dip to like 8.2 volts when i cranked on it. Electrical problems are so annoying to trace.
