HD tourers are made for "larger" americans.. you should be fine with the suspension on most all of the tourers..the 2 models with the shorter shocks are a little harsher, but not much...you are plenty tall enough for the longer shocks, so you might as well stay with the bikes with the taller shocks..

While I again encourage you to try them all, it's sounding like your preferences are steering you towards the Electra Glide models (Classic and Ultra Limited). They will be more comfortable for your 2up riding, and the batwing faring does a job on the wind buffeting. Also, the factory windshield is on the taller side. Plus you get your stereo/tunes.

Good luck with your trials. Again, keep us posted on what you decide.

Cool

Free2Ride, you sound more like an Ultra chap to me! Hope that helps narrow down the field for the two of you......

Harley went to a larger frame in 2010. It is quite apparant if you observe (ex) a 2008 and a 2010 together from the rear.

I went from a Softail Standard to an Ultra Classic, and now on a Ultra Limited. The touring models share the same frame. But riding characteristics vary between models. Personally I like the taller ride of the Road King, Ultra Classic, Road Glide Ultra, and Ultra Limited. The tour pak does make a diffrence, and so does how the bike is loaded. Dealers offer test rides all the time, so best to make use of them.

Try a Road Glide Ultra. You'll love it.

Touring frames changed in 2009 and were redesigned, huge difference , the 09 and newer have a better ride and different size tires I think also

Wind buffeting seems to be all over the place with different riders vs. different baggers. I had a RG and fought wind buffeting. I have been test riding SGs at freeways speeds lately and have noticed only minor buffeting. BTW, I am 6, 310lbs, and I think the SG rides great... will be my next bike.
