Default Torque wrench question

If I put an adapter on my 1/4" drive torque wrench so I can use my 3/8" drive sockets will the torque value still be accurate. Thanks

The twisting force stays the same.

^ correct, it when you use an offset adapter (such as a crows foot) that you will have to adjust the torque value.

Yes. The only time adapters will change the tq is as stated with a crows foot, or what we call a "dog bone" adapter, and you can use those if you place them at a 90 degree angle. The key is to not lengthen or shorten the tool with the adapter. A simple 1/4 to 3/8 adapter keeps the socket exactly where it is supposed to be.

It will be close enough, don't sweat it.

What about using a long ball hex extension? I used one on my clutch cover so I didn't have to take off the exhaust but I wasn't sure if the torque would remain the same.....

As long as ya stay on the center line (Swivel/universal joint/sockets are fine) of the torque wrench it doesn't matter what ya plug onto it. Crows foot won't be accurate.

Torque stays the same. It's like using u-joints on a driveshaft.

Little loss perhaps due to friction if you're at a good bit of an angle.

Crows foot? Dog Bone? Are those the same thing I was raised to call a "wobbly"? Actually I think the technical name is 'universal'.
