I was told by two different Harley dealers today that the D&D Boss 2-1 was the BEST exhaust for performance. They both said it had a real throaty sound too. It came HIGHLY recommended. But, they wanted $1,100 for the 2-1, and another $350ish for the dummy pipe!!!
I really like the look of a pipe under each bag on the touring models, so a dummy pipe is pretty much a must for me.
Any opinions on it being the best for performance?? And, where is the cheapest/best place to get one??
I felt the difference (loss of low end torque) when I put my CFR knock-offs on. They sound great, and look cool, but I want my power back - while maintaining the looks of duals. Is this the way to go?

I believe that he has a ghost pipe available too for like $300 or $350 you would have to call and ask him. He did have a guarantee that his pipe would out perform any other pipe out there. I have one and love the way it sounds nice and deep like a harley not a glasspacked raspy sound like the d and d does in my opinion. I also like the ceramic coating inside and out.

I'm on my 4th set. Very good pipe. Fit and finish is excellent. Ordered mine direct from D & D. Just have to pick the right muffler and baffle. Love the sound but that of course is personal preference.
The FatCat Boss is a great pipe and I have it on my 10 RK. I got a killer deal of $775 shipped from Dr. V-Twin, but they are not around anymore from what I read on a Thread a while back.
OP, Make sure you get the FatCat and not the Boss Boarzilla unless you plan on going big bore. Both are associated with the "Boss" name depending on the website/supplier. The FatCat is good for displacements from stock up to a 25% increase.
The other decision you should consider is the baffle and there are lots of threads here that discuss baffles. I run the "Q" (quiet) baffle and it's anything but quiet. It has a nice rumble at idle and while cruising. Crack the throttle and it will wake the dead. It's also gotten significantly louder from burning in over the last 4k miles. I could re-wrap the baffle but I kinda like it. Either way, you're going to love that exhaust!
