With that 120 ci engine, have you broken anything? Do you have problems stretching the Primary Chain or breaking the belt?

Mac,

Like I have mentioned before, one of my dealer friends has a 117 cu in 2080 cc Roadglide. Once you get that big you can expect more maintenance, hence owning the dealership is a good thing. He has not broken a belt or stretched the primary chain but during the dyno drags at his dealership this year a guy with a softail with a 120+ cu in motor broke 3 belts. They decided to go with a chain.

I can see it...that's why I was asking CaptnAl if he had any problems yet. Steve (HDWRENCH) and I talked about it...he won't put a big motor on my bike, 98" is plenty, and I'm happy with what I think I will have.

Pilot, I have not had any issues yet with my bike. I ride it pretty hard and when you really get after it, it will pull the front wheel into 2nd and 3rd. The belt seems to be fine and I havent had to adjust my primary as of yet. When I do the 6 speed insert swap out I am going to put in an auto primary chain adjuster.

One thing that eased my concerns was that the Parts Manager at my local HD shop has an EG std with a really hot 95 in motor ( he gets all the parts a cost), it has the top of the line heads cams ect. The reason he went with the 95 is that anything above that HD will not warranty ( the 103 Upgrade) unless you buy the Screaming Egale from the factory. With the extra cost to go that rout I decided to put the 120 in ( didnt like the SE packages), sold the stock motor locally for 4 k so I made out better than if I had bought an SE.

Some folks ride a lot harder than I do and may abuse thier equipment, which can cause premature failure. I say ride hard, with common sense and watch the failure points and make sure everyting is adjusted so as not to set yourself up for a problem

As we all know, when you deviate form stock or go HP the rules change, it takes more maint, and cost more. But that is the price we are willing to pay, faster scoots, cars, planes, ect. Got to Love it!

P.S. A 95 or 98 inch motor with the right cams will wake that scoot up, i am sure you will be more that happy with what you will end up with.

Good luck

Thanks for the post.

I was kidding with the guy who is going to do the build, and told him that I'd be back in six months for a 124" bike. He didn't even laugh, just told me that I would have to find someone else. He went on to tell me why, and that I needed to stick with this for a bagger. If I wanted something more, than I would need to get a different kind of ride.

Got me thinking, and when I saw your 120, I figured I would ask. Two days until I blast up to Phoenix to get this done. I'm waiting on my SERT, it's supposed to be here on Friday, the day I'm driving up. This is driving me crazy, as I wanted to ride up earlier in the day so that we could get started.

The enigne came with the chrome package, and my stealer puts the chorme pacakge on the bikes he sells, so the inner and outer are chrome as well as some of the tranny pieces. I think he takes the stock peices and puts in his inventory to sell later, talk about a double dip. You pay for the new chorme but no dicount for the stuff he takes off or the parts.

The inner really adds to the look with the outer.

Do you have any decent pics of all this?

I'm a chrome fiend, I love it. Sometimes I wonder whether the Thong thread or John Tn's bike is more fun to look at.
