I had a fuel injected '99 Roadking Classic, road it for 8 years over 80,000 miles her. All I did was change the engine, and primary oils every 3,000, the trans every 9,000 miles. tires about every 10,000 mles. Added a Vance and Hines Fuel Pac. Changed the bars. and a Mustang seat. She was still running good when I sold her in '07. If I remember right, the Cam bearings were were done under a warranty recall when she was brand new, never opened her up after that.
I bought my 99'FLHTC from a friend for 5k. It was not nearly in the condition you described. I have really, truly enjoyed bring it back to its former glory and making it mine. Like the others have said "go get it or I will!"
Hurry,And dont look back!!!Always keep in mind..no matter what you do...Tires,ect is maintenance and will only bring you more years of enjoyment...
Get us some pics...Good Luck..Old Man...LOL..
I myself just got a 99 ultra with twice the milage within the last couple of months. It needs all maintenance stuff. Top end gaskets, swing arm bushings, a belt, brakes and tires. I got all my stuff and it only cost me about a grand more. It will be running soon! Like others said, go over the cam tensioner shoes, primary chain adjuster shoe. Check out the whole bike. its YOUR life that depends on it. I wouldn't wait til something gave me a problem (other then the injection which is what I am doing). Someone told me if going to carb go with the datona twin tec ignition with the wire plus harness. Will wake the bike up night and day.
On a good note, 99 was the year of the good crank. 2000 is when they started having problems with runout. My friend who recommended the carb install also said..."Only good harley is a rebuilt one". Even with all the mods you listed you would still be coming out to about 10large which is nothing in a bagger. If your not interested in it, I am not that far from ohio. I have a lot of friends who live near Columbus and Cincinnatti!

I ride a 99 EG. It is a sweet ride. I bought it 4yrs ago with 170000 Kms. It ran great but needed some work. My first up grade was having a hydraulic cam chain tensioner, high flow oil pump and a big *** cam installed. This is the only work I've had done on the engine. I now have 231000 Kms on the bike and it runs beautiful. If you are only paying 4000 for the bike you can afford to do the upgrades nessessary for that engine.
1999 Electra glide classic.
