I'm looking at upgrading the front brakes on my 2000 Ultra. The brembo caliper conversion seems straightforward. What needs to be done as far as the master cylinder? Will my current set up work or do I need to upgrade? Any sugestions are welcome. Thanks
you can use the factory master that is on your bike, but if you switch to the newer master cylinder you benefit by pushing more fluid due to the bigger bore.
when i did the conversion on my bike, i swapped:
-master cylinder & lever
-clutch perch & lever (so it would match the brake side)
-brembo calipers
-new brake line(you may not need this, i did as i was doing ape hangers as well)
-2 new mounting bolts for the caliper
i haven't done the rotors yet because i haven't found any for the price i want to pay, but the smaller rotors will work
That link is awesome. I have acquired most of my parts needed for this from eBay. For the small parts I needed I simply printed out the parts list from this link and took it to my dealer. Very impressive write up by the author. I'm using it as my step by step service manual.
