Default Mechanic messed up cam timing, long term effects?

Had the local dealer install 255's on my new ultra classic and the mechanic couldn't get it to run properly. After going through the electrical system and finding nothing wrong they decided to pull the cam cover and check timing of the cams. They were not timed right and they fixed it, now its running fine. My questions are: Will running the motor with the cams not timed correctly damage any other engine components? It was started and ran for short periods of time the last couple days trying to troubleshoot. Can or will there be any long term or lingering effects? Maybe issues that show up in 10000 miles? Or am I being too paranoid after spending this kind of money that I may end up with a lemon because of the mechanic screwing up this cam job.

You should be ok. There were incorrect stamped 255 cams awhile back. Not saying it wasn't the mechanic's fault, but it could have been an old set off the shelf with mis-marked timing marks.

Thanks for the quick replies! I take delivery of it tomorrow, unfortunately we have a couple feet of the white stuff so no riding for a while. I am glad to hear everything should be fine with my bike.
