I know the primary case takes one quart or until the fluid comes up to the radial spring. That said How much oil goes into the tranny and the motor, or what are the guide lines? I have no manual for my bike at this time and need to know before i do the 3 hole service. Thanks in advance. This is indeed a great site for info on these fine machines.
kindly

You're right on the primary. Trans is 1 quart. Engine on the touring bikes I believe is 3qts and change. Not sure about other models.
deluxe isnt a touring model, and there is a dipstick on the trans and motor. If i recall correctly, on a deluxe the oil tank is right under the seat with the fill spout sticking out the side. This makes it pretty easy to judge the oil level as you fill
good post perki! Your description of ATF F and B&M matches what I thought. I'm willing to change more often to get the serious hookup that suits my riding style. Temps havent been an issue for me, 2-1 exhaust thats awy from the primary probably helps some. I've probably only got 75,000mi or so since I started using ATF, but I've yet to have anything in the primary(s) fail yet. As long as your aware of the type of fluid you're running, and it's advantages and limitations you'll be good. There's no unicorn blood in Harley fluids that makes them the only thug you can use...
While i do agree that Harley fluids are not the only fluids you can use... (or even *should* use, arguably, i don't)... i am saddened... no, offended, that you'd come on here and make your rediculous claim that the Harley fluids are unicorn blood free. That's just stupid and irresponsible, and if you don't know any better than that, you shouldn't even be riding a Harley. Of course Harley fluids are unicorn blood enriched. Why is this guy even allowed to post?
