I saw a 04 RK at the dealership in Edmond OK with 3000 miles for $10000. It's all original except for fishtail exhaust. And it has the Harley Custom paint. The bike was just traded in and that was the price off the top of the sales managers head.
Beary
Damn! Screw jersey and there overpriced bikes! Its difficult to find a softail for that price and miles let alone a road king
Had been looking since November-ebay,craigslist,cycle trader, chopper exchange, local bike shops.I'm in Northeastern Md.,so I was covering Md. as well as De.,Pa.,Jersey,and Northern Va.in my searches which BTW,were 4-8 times DAILY,as good deals go as fast as they come.Actually one of the best deals I came across was in Princeton.'08 w/9000 miles for 12g-coulda had it for 11
My dad is in the market for a used bike. Done some shopping and the road king is pretty much his perfect bike. We've seen some for $10,000 with 30-40k miles. One in particular is a 100th anniversary with the black and silver paint and 40,000 miles at the local dealer. The bike is gorgeous, no flaws in the paint and has typical light mods (exhaust, backrest, grips etc.) Big concern is the miles. How are the road kings after 40k?
keep looking, Bud just sold his 03 r/k 8 k miles, for 10,500 with 5k in chrome, a bunch of anniversary medallions on it, his was the deep maroon color though, condition, about a 9 of 10.
Look at the Chico Californai craigslist, there is one low mile 04 Smokey Gold for 10000 i think.http://chico.craigslist.org/mcy/3664320283.html I picked mine up for 7700 with 17k on it a year ago.

You can find a good deal in jersey. Picked up my 06 street glide with 20k on the clock for $10k. You just have to look. As far as financing, go put $5.00 in a credit union and finance through them. My local one offers 1.99% on used bikes.
You need to widen you horizon regarding how far to travel, I would look anything up to 1000 miles for the right bike, riding home is a great way to get to know your new bike
When I brought my RK, I brought private in 2010, it was a 07 with 10K and paid $11,500 for it. I am in the UK and the bike was in Savannah, so distance is not really an excuse if the deal is right, after picking it up I rode it 350 miles down to Tampa (where I keep it) smiling all the way
