I have the Rush 1.75's and love them, but...having to repack them every 8 months or so is kind of a pain. Not hard at all, it's just that I think mufflers should be "set it and forget it", but that's just me. The Rush's are mellow at an idle but open up nicely when you get on it. I did notice there is an odd difference between new packing and no packing: with no packing at all, hey are loud (er) at an idle and quieter at cruise or when you get on it. With new packing, they are quieter at idle and louder when you get on it. Just my observation. I do like he sound though.
I am saving for some V&H Monster Rounds but that will be a while...
I run the Supertrapp "Stouts" on my 2011 FLHTCU (No cat in head pipe). They have a nice sound at idle, a nice low-pitched growl during acceleration and are very radio friendly out on the highway. I've tried dozens of different muffler over the past 20+ years of riding Ultra Classics and these have been my absolute favorite.
Sire2Twins,
Remember your bike has a cat..... so your exhaust will be slightly or moderately quieter than a non-cat bike.....unless you swap head pipes or remove cat.
Ride On.
Already debating on whether to cut out the cat or completely swap the head pipes. going to give it the summer to contemplate my options and just get used to the new ride. thanks for the heads up. never had a BRAND NEW bike before so want to make sure the choices I make are well thought out.
Ok so have a new to me 06 Ultra classic that I have rode twice now thanks to the recent snow. I want to put a set of slip ons on the bike just to make it sound like a HD. The stock set up is way too quiet. Can anyone recommend a set up that is middle of the road? My last bike was LOUD , I don't want loud. I want to keep everything stock so no full pipes or tuner desired. I am thinking Rush or Jackpots. Any advice is appreciated!
Funny when I read this stuff..."I want to change my mufflers so my bike sounds like a Harley."
Then...I hearm (to me)...."Youyr bike does not sound like a Harley."
I have stock pipes....and it doesn't sound like a Harley? WTF? Obviously....you are asking the wrong question......you do not want your bike to sound like a Harley. You want your Harley to be louder. (Just wanted to clear that up). If my bike does not sound like a HARLEY.....WTF is it?
