Since you are saying "front motor mount" I am a little confused. There are two rubberized isolater mounts down low on either side up near the front and their various bolts are located under the footboards area.

Then you have the top front mount that is a rigid mount from the front head over through a stabilizer linkage to a bracket on the left down tube.

So which mount/bolt are you talking about? Those cheap *** allen head bolts fastening the bottom two rubberized mounts are soft and very easy to screw-up if you use a cheap Allen socket that does not fit snugly or don't get the Allen inserted all of the way into the bolt head before applying pressure.

Ya no kidding...drop 25k on new bike and worry yourself sick over a $8 nut and bolt.

I really don't fault the dealer on this one.

Kyle - just wondering - which service were you doing that has you re-torque the mounts?

Almost like they do it like that on purpose, just so that you will buy more parts from them.

Good Luck,

The hardware Harley uses isn't the cheapest made and it works just fine. It's the unskilled inexperienced guy with the wrench that strips the threads.

Also need to mention the inexperienced guy with worn or inferior tools (harbor freight, worse yet a crescent wrench?)

I own my on business to and if a customer that bought a 20-25000 $ bike from me ,I would replace said bolt for free, tell him what to watch for,and then when he came back to get something done to his bike that really was something, then I would get my $8 dollar bolt back ,I will not loose a customer or such a thing,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Engine mounts are in the critical fasteners table that need to be checked per the service manual.

I do fault the dealers customer service. Regardless of the OP's mechanical ability, which I don't see any proof that he is not capable, if it is a new bike with little miles on it then they better listen. If it was a 10 year old bike with a unknown service history that is completely different.

You have to give the OP credit. He knew something was wrong. Knew it was beyond him. Took it to the dealer and got blasted because of it.........

Lighten up guys....

I think a little more info is needed here. The OP needs to tell us which mount it is, what bolt location on that mount, and just how it is stripped, the bolt itself or in the case or frame. If it is a bolt I would probably replace it with an upgrade.

What a bunch of ******** most of you guys are!
The OP said he was trying to check torque to 36 ft/lbs and the the bolt spun at 16 ft/lbs. That implies he was using the proper tool for the job, a torque wrench.
None of you Holier than Thou's have a clue just how much mechanical skill / experience the OP has, but you are jumping on him like it was a game of smear the queer. I guess only you guys with your superior knowledge and crazy skill are allowed to work on a bike.
You guys bitch and moan and call the rest of us "wallet bikers" or "RUBs" when we take our bikes in to be serviced or modded, but then you jump on us like rabid weasels when we do the work ourselves. MAKE UP YOUR TINY LITTLE MINDS!

Kyle - unless they can prove you over torqued they are required to warranty this. All depends how hard you are willing to fight. Take your toque wrench into the dealer with you and ask them to explain how using your torque wrench you stripped the bolt...

Keep us informed.. and good luck.
