RonH, sounds great. I'm 5'6" on a good day. You mind me asking your height? If I could drop another 2 inches (seat that is), I'd be in HOG HEAVEN.
Also, how long did it take?

I'm 5' 10" and that 2 inches makes a huge difference. It just took him a few days - it's been raining the whole time mine was gone so I didn't even notice.
Morning all, my buddy wants to send his seat off his Road King Standard to Allen at www.meancitycycles.comto lower his sitting position. How did ya'll determine how much to lower your seat? Does it make sense to have him sit on the bike and place 1", then 2" and maybe 3" boards under his feet until he feels comfortable and flat footed? Then this would tell us how much to lower the seat. Thanks.

Makes sense to me, I never thought of doing that way. I'm going home and try that tonight.
May have to check these guys out. I'm curious...how did you figure out what to scoop out and where to get the job done. I'll review the website when I get home.
Allen's been upholstering for over 20 years and knows how it works for motorcycle seats. I sent him my height and weight and what I wanted changed (how far down, forward or back), and then let him determine the correct scoop for the seat. Let the expert/artist do their thing ya know?
As far as the backrest, it makes no difference for pot holes and stuff, it just keep my back straight for better posture and gives me something to lean against. Makes all the difference in the world.
Great looking job. I have found an Amish fellow that will put in a gel seat for $20.00 labor. I wouldn't even remove the seat and put it back on for $20.00. He does great work. Of course the gel pad is extra....60.00 at my dealer for the big pad. I'm going to try this before I invest in the road zepplin. Ride an o7 Ultra with 103", 251 cams, sert, hi flo ac, sert and rinehart true duals. Still it's a pain in the a$$ after about 350 to 400 miles....Tim
