I have no idea how it would look on your SG or if you have a tour pak installed for trips, but the Hammock seat is a huge step up from the stock electra glide seat and I imagine it would be the same for your SG.
I have had a sundowner since day one. while I can see that a driver backrest will help, have any of you also changed bars? with oem I had a sore back due to leaning into the bar, back muscle tightens up. not sore since the bar changed to a pull back wild one 575.

It's going to look like crap, that's why they make detachable tour paks to cover the nasty thing up
I've got a Sundowner, and it's definitely not "the best" by any means, but it's a little bit better for the driver and much better for the passenger. And if you carry a TP, you won't notice the difference in looks. If you ride "naked" you definitely will.
I have a 2012 Street Glide, but I ride solo 99.9% of the time.
Really guys, two up riding is not best on a SG, a Classic or Ultra Classic would be ideal for 2 up riding...but I know we like our SG's...so my suggestion for 2 up riding is
1. Get a set of 13" take off shocks, better suspenion means better ride.
2. I had a Sundowner on my last Classic, loved it...really best seat I've owned, and I've had a C&C solo ( very cool but hard, same with a Corbin seat I had) even the factory UC seat isn't bad to me..so get a better seat.
3. Handlebars, I changed mine to Khrome Werks +2 sweepers, wouldn't mind trying the 2+2 sweepers ( wasn't out when I changed mine)
4. Windshield, managing the wind will make a more relaxed and comfortable ride for both on long trips, consider a 8 to 10" shield.
^^^ I'd go with the above post too in that the SG (which I have) isn't sprung as nicely as an Electra and if you do mostly two-up then you might wish to consider swapping to taller/better shocks.
Seat wise, I have not ridden on the stock SG seat as I had the HD Sig Series Solo installed at build - I also have full seat gel within the seated area and I like this set up. For the passenger the detach seat pad is full size not a skinny arsed variety!
Something not mentioned so far is the change in stock seats. The 2010 and up seat is deaper dished for the driver than the '06-'09 stockers. Having said that, the Sundowner saddle is a bit deeper offering even more back support. Though it is wider in the front. 80% of my milage is two up so the Sundowner is usually on the bike but I sometimes run my 2012 SG stock seat if solo.
I have the Sundowner.
I had it shaved some to narrow the front so I could put my feet flat on the ground. So yes, it does move you up off the ground a little. It's about the same distance from handle bars. The deep bucket portion does feel good on the long rides and the wife likes the wide passenger pillion. Would't trade it for nothing..
Madcow leather in Michigan wrapped it in leather and did the fitting for me with better foam since they shaved a good bit as I am only 5' 8" with a 30" inseam.
Seat comfort is very subjective to the rider.
I've tried 3 seats on my SG.
Stock is good and I've done 400 miles a day on it with no problems.
I bought a Harley Hammock seat and even though it look aweful it is extremely comfortable. It really soaks up the back jarring bumps.
I tried a C&C solos seat as well. Very well made and it looked amazing. However it was very uncomfortable to me. Just didn't like it.
I also just bought a Mustang solo seat but haven't had a chance to ride with it yet.
Hopefully the weather will be nice enough to give it a try this weekend.
The demo program at your local shop is a great thing and can save you allot of money.
Big fan of my Danny Gray. They can be found much cheaper then on his site. Just bought a new one and Amazon was the best deal. Word for the wise, if you get an aftermarket seat, then keep it plain without stitch patterns as they promote water absorption into the seat, and in turn will give your jeans a fancy wet pattern.
