Default Advanced audio install question

Picked up my advanced audio radio and the dealer reminds me I have to have them program the radio after I install it. I'm worried that I'll install and take the bike to them and they'll have to remove the fairing to install it and change me more labor. Is this necessary? can I program the radio myself?

thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

Dealer does not remove the fairing to program...doubtful you can program it yourself!

Rest easy... The radio can be programmed via the DDL (Diagnostic Link) near the ECM....

It has to be done, or every 30 seconds you will hear a Beep, until it gets done.....

And NO, you cannot program it without taking it to an HD shop....

You can update the internal software yourself, but not the calibration software.....

Thanks Bob, I figured I'd try to save some cash since the radio took my winter savings. Hopefully they won't charge much to program.
