Changed my fork oil yesterday. Came out to the garage this morning and seen a puddle on the floor. The drain plug is leaking. Tried loosening and tightened back up and still leaking. Do the little copper washers go bad. I thought they would be fine to re use
You'll probably find the service manual says to replace with new, even though many of us will reuse them. Now you know why the manual says that, sometimes they decide not to play. Just get new ones and hopefully all will be fine....
I have found it best to replace the copper washers on the drain screws and the rubber oil seal under the top fork bolt. A few extra bucks is worth not going back to fix a leak.
Yeah I was wondering if I should have got new ones but being the dealer is about an hour away I would try to get by without replacing. So much for shortcuts. Thanks for the Info guys. Live and learn I guess
question about chaning the oil.. i just put RK shocks on my nightster.. and i think they are empty, how much oil and what kind is best to fill it up? also if i fill from the top what should i use?.. thanks!

Hope they work for you. Many of us trash the stock shocks , they are over sprung and poor dampening on a 800lb touring bike, cant see how they would work on a much lighter Sporty.
