My wife and I have to way 350 together by the time we are geared up and on the bike. I keep the tire pressure at the reccomended 36/40. Never had a problem. I check it frequently. Did you ever let it get low and run it that way awhile?

I have a 2010 Limited and always run recommended pressures according to my manual.
This is correct for the OEM tires. Now that you're running something different you need to go to the tire manufacturers web site and follow their recommendations.

Run 40/40 on my 2011 and am at 18,000 miles on front with no cupping. I have noticed if I let it get too far below this the tire feels "unstable" like its going flat and too far above it seems to react to any road sand or pebbles by trying to move sideways easier like its loosing traction.

I'm amazed at all the guys the run the front at 40 and up. I put 40 in mine one day and the crappy roads in Louisiana beat me to death. 38 seems to be OK, but not 40.

No theyve never been run low. I check them pretty regular and also have Ride On in them. I'd say my guage is probably a POS. Who makes a good guage and where can you get it? The one I am using is from advance auto.

KC, care to elaborate? If I put new tires on my 57 or 82, don't you think tire composition may have changed and higher pressures are appropriate? I am not looking for an argument, I respect your your posts and opinions. I run the pressures the tire manufacturer recommends as the factory pressure is based on the stock tires.
Thanks.

I already knew the answer but to confirm just got off the phone with Michelin. They gave me the same answer Dunlop did when I started running the E III. Follow bike manufacturers recommendations.

Don't assume that is the answer from every tyre manufacturer. Certainly Avon Venom tyres had higher recommended pressures, I ran mine 2-up at 44F/48R, 50R when loaded to the gunnels!
