In 2005 I bought a new a 1300c. I had it for about a year. After 10k miles and a trip to DC and Chicago, I decided that I should step up to a bike made for touring. The 1300c was great for around town but I just could not get it where I wanted comfort wise for longer trips. Traded it for my RK and have been loving it since then.

I had a 2003 VTX1300 when they first came out. Never did care for the bike. Seemed like a lot of vibration in it. Then I bought a used Honda Valkyrie. The Valkyrie was a lot of bike and a great road machine. After a trip on the Valk to Sturgis with some Harleys guys I found I couldn't keep up with them in the curves. Next year, 2004, I bought a new RKC and been riding Road Kings ever since. When victory came out with the Road King and Street Glide clones a few years ago I rode one at the local dealer. Came back and jumped on my RK and there was no comparison. Harley just has 'em all beat.

I had a 05 VTX 1800C. Loved the bike and had it customized to my riding style with Ultimate X seat and was a great bike. I could never get it comfortable for the wife no matter what seat I put on the bike or any type of adjustment. Rode the Harley and instantly said this is it due to the comfort level. Now I will agree with many of the responses the Harley is a gutless wonder compared to the VTX but the ride makes up for it.

On the other hand, my wife liked the Ultimate seat on my 1800N better than she likes the Ultra. But you're right about the gutless wonder. The Honda would run like a raped ape. Different markets though. My HD does just fine for what I want it for.

Ride Safe

I never could figure out why Honda put fuel injection in the 1800 and a carb in the 1300. I nver could get my 1300 jetted right.

I don't know, good question. 1300 guys on the VTX Cafe forum didn't seem mind. They could change pipes, breathers, etc and be running great with a simple jet mod. Of course there were a couple of carb gurus there to help with getting the carbs right. Us 1800 guys had to either buy a tuner, or be careful about what we did.
