Howdy, Just added a Road King keep my '98 Dyna Convertible company in the gargae at night. Only have 800 miles on it so far, boy do I like the difference of the King on the freeway!! Here's my windshield concern. To remove my FXDS windshield, a fella would need an alan wrench and 5 or 10 minutes. I always sort of worried about having it stolen while the bike was unattended. Now, with my Road King, shoot, it could get swiped in the blink of an eye. Is there any products on the market that would reduce the ease of removal??? I do not need to worry about me taking it off, cause I can't forsee riding without it. I just ordered a Brukus system to help my saddle bags from being stolen.....found out about that nifty gizmo reading a thread here just this morning. Thanks to whoever posted that info..........
Congrats on the new King It's a fantastic machine, I absolutely LOVE mine and am ready to turn 90k on it in the next week or so. It's been a joy to own and ride.
Don't' know of any, but to be honest I don't even worry about mine and haven't heard of any being ripped off either. Not that it can't happen, but it's just not a common problem even here in So Cal where I am, so I'd imagine in Montana your odds of it happening would be even less as So Cal is a haven of creeps and crime.
Now my detachable King TourPak (a $1500 item!) I do often remove when I'm traveling and staying in motels - I'll bring it into the room with me if I'm feeling paranoid. I've brought the windshield in the room too a few times when not sure of what kind of area i'm in when traveling.
But generally on my day to day routine I've never worried about the windshield personally. Hopefully someone here can suggest something they know of if you're concerned about it.
Usually just pop the windshield off when travelling and take it in the room. It only takes a second to remove and I can soak and clean the bugs off with their towels. I am sure the cleaning staff hates me.
