Ok, so I got an offer from the guy that sold me my Road Glide. He has a Corbin Classic Solo seat with drivers backrest and passenger pillion with a lock and 2 sets of keys for 600. The seat has less than 500 miles on it. Is this a good deal? Anyone have this seat and can vouch for the comfort level? Thanks in advance.
Man that's an absolute crap shoot. That could be the best 600.00 bucks or the worst 600.00 bucks you ever spent in your life. I don't know that anyone can really tell you if it's a good deal based on whether you'll like it or not. But I can say that if you don't like it, it's unlikely you'll get all your money back at that price.
I'd pay the guy what I was prepared to lose half of on a unknown (to me) seat. With some things (like seats) you do your research, pays your money and takes your chances.
I put one of those seats and backrest on last year and it's good for me but like max said its a chance you take it may not be right for you. I don't think that is a great deal, I would have to look up what I paid but I'm thinking no more then $100 more then what he is asking.
Some people swear by Corbin, for me they are hard as a brick and I couldn't wait to get it off of my bike. I made myself put over 1k on the seat to break it in properly as told to me by Corbin. It never got better, actually think it got harder, never again for me.
I'm sure he'd let me try it for a day before I buy it. I might go that route. He said it sits the same position as the stock seat, but is more comfortable especially with the backrest. I'll see if he'll let me test it out this weekend if the weather is nice. All in all, is the price a good deal on a used Corbin? I like the fact that it has a lock so I won't be as worried about someone just unscrewing it and taking it off.
He got a different bike that it doesn't fit. He sold me my Road Glide which he had it on in the first place. He upgraded bikes, but kept the seat to sell it.
I got my set up used (same deal - solo seat, passenger seat - riders backrest) and I paid $300 or $350.... but yeah, they are $950 new,.... So $600 isn't a bad bad deal, but maybe not a great deal either......
Mine is more used, and has some wear - way more than 500 miles, so that is a factor also......
As for comfort? The most I've rode in 1 day with this seat is maybe 200 miles. No complaints, but I haven't taken it on a 3 day / 900 mile trip yet - So it's hard to say. I know my butt hurt after only 200 miles on my stock seat, and my butt hasn't hurt once on this seat.... but again, about 200 miles is the most I've rode in 1 day....
