Sorry for the long post but I had to share. I made anappointment for my 5000 mile service on my new 2013 Electra Glide Ultra ClassicLimited about a week ago, for today. I was hoping to have good weather but thatfront that brought all the wild weather to the central states over the pastcouple of days was moving northeast bringing a cold front and some prettystrong rain, according to the weather radar. I had to make a 45 minute run to the dealer for my 0800 hr appointmentand luckily, it hadnt started raining yet. It being hard to get an appointmentand not cancelling a couple of days previous when they called to confirm, I puton my one piece Olympia riding suit and my Shoie modular helmet and hit theroad. Well, needless to say, I didnt make it far and it started to rain. Notbad at first, but then about 10 miles it started coming down a little harder.About 20 miles into the ride it became torrential and visibility was startingto become a bit of a problem. It wascoming down like a cow pi$$ing on a flat rock, a scene Im sure all you farmboys can visualize . Anyway, I tucked in behind a bus, actually I was on a twolane and couldnt pass, and followed it during most of the heavy downpour. Anyway,I couldnt be more pleased in the performance of the FLHTK. Id ridden in rainbefore, but probably nothing that bad in quite awhile and on a different adifferent bike. It ran like a champ and was rock solid all the way to thedealers. Matter of fact, the dealer was surprised I still rode in and gave me aT-shirt as a token of their appreciation for keeping the appointment. Theservice was $0.00, as I have a pre-paid program and I got a FREE shirt. I triedwaiting out the rain, but an hour after service was complete, it was stillraining lightly and I took out on the journey home .you guessed it, the skiesopened up again. Total, it rained over 1 during the 5 hrs from leaving andgetting back to the house and i was in the thick of it. I was really impressed by the way the bike handledthe rain and the wet roads not skipping a beat. The only limiting factor was myvisibility ..and thanks to my recently purchased LRS Flat Top, I could see theroad unhampered by the windshield now if I could only get my glasses to keepfrom fogging up so I didnt have to ride with the face shield cracked. Thanks for letting me rabmle.
lol....ok....i yield....I'm not real hard core, i just ride when its over 32 degrees and when its not a tornado lol....i konw there are a lot of hard core riders out there. i was just impressed by the machine....and the dealer giving me a new t-shirt :-)
Nothing wrong with a ride in the rain if you up to it. Last nights ride home was 35 degrees and rain all the way.
I'm lucky ride in rain often so I have a real Motorcycle rain suit and am use to using it.
900 lbs of bike on good rubber does handle well
They are Rommel Harley of Annapolis, they have a dealership at the Deleware Memorial and in Smerna Del, i think. I think they think the longer i hang around, the more i can possibly buy. Not bad guys really. Its the second bike i've purchased there. I'm lucky, i have about 3 dealers within about 50 miles. Nice to make a run on the weekend and pick up a burger or hot sausage.
