Hey all,
This summer by brother and I are gonna ride out to Cody Wy. and stay for a couple days in the Irma hotel, and ride around Yellowstone and the surrounding area. I'm just curious if anyone has any suggestions for the trip or if anyone has been in that area to let me know what to expect. Any comments would be aprreciated.
South of Island Park Idaho there is a backroad to Ashton Idaho. Look at a map. On that road is a place called Mesa Falls, prettiest place I have seen. You can go from Ashton to Jackson or to Swan Valley and on to Star Valley.
I would recommend heading south and seeing the Tetons. Jackson Hole is pretty cool, and then the ride over the pass back into Idaho is nice. Worth the time.
I had to check your profile to make sure you're not my riding brother. We're going to be out there also in late May . So let's get all you cowboys that know the area to chime in and give us all the details of that spectacular country.
Pack a sweatshirt and your rain suit. Four of us went last August and it in one day the sun shined, it rained, it hailed and it snowed. Spent four days in the Yellowstone area, it was some of the best riding I have done. The coldest was the mornings about 32 degrees, the afternoons got into the 60's at best. Watch out for the buffalo, they go anywhere they want to go, most of the time right down the middle of the road. Remember this is a tourist area, lots of cars and RVs and they are looking at the sights and wild life, they are not looking for motorcycles or thier riders.I think you could spend a week in Yellowstone and the surrounding area and not see it all. Enjoy your trip it will be a great time.
DUDES! becareful out there, I been watching the National Geographic shows about that mega eruption happening almost any hundred thousand years now. LOL
sounds like a ride of a life time...the views in the southeastern coastal states and Florida are pretty unspectacular. that is unless you have an appreciation for theoccasional landfill.........
