I'm thinking of replacing my standard 09 SG headlight. After a little research and reading about the light pattern complaints of the HD LED in the turns, I paused... Would the Dual Bulb CVO Headlight be a better choice with upgraded bulbs? I have upgraded the bulb in my stock headlight which made it better but not great. So now I'm thinking about going with the CVO Dual bulb setup. Anyone ideas?
i like the e code housing,it focuses the light better than stock and can be used with any bulb upgrade.and its a lot less coin than the led.led has its place too not so much for light but for power consumption,if your running high load accessories led uses a lot less juice.hid is another option very bright uses less power than stock more than led,but throws light everywhere can blind oncoming traffic.
Spring 2012 I installed the HD dual halogen bulb kit P/N 67700032 on my 2009 SG for $175. I considered the LEDs. Overall, I was not impressed with the LED light projection capability and costs compared to the HD dual halogen capability. If you want a cost effective solution the dual halogen could be a option. I see no need to upgrade my headlight again to LED.

Replace your bulb with the Silverstar Ultra H4 bulb. IMO that's the ticket without spending a fortune for lights. Some people say they don't last but I've never had an issue with them. Got them in my 2004 25000HD which rides like a tank and they haven't failed there either in over 4+ years. The ones I put on my 09 Ultra in 08 when I bought it were still in it when I traded it in August.
On a side note I have the crash bar mounted fog light and until yesterday had no idea those bulbs could be changed. I went down to autozone picked up a couple of H3 Silverstars and they're as white and bright as the rest of my lamps are. No more dingy yellow headlights/passing lamps/fog lights on the front of my bike.
I replaced my headlight with the dual bulb. I wasn't impressed. So I replaced the low beam with an HID retro kit. The reflector is basicly the same as HDs HID. The light output now is outstanding.

What kit did you use in the low for HID. Just putting the fairing together now with the HD dual bulb train light. I also found dont do the plug and play.... cut the wires one at a time and solder/heat shrink the wires getting rid of the plug. I see a diff just in the shop!
Any part #s for the HD unit for low HID conversion.Comes with ballast correct?
Thanks
i have the CVO dual head light.
first i put in a set of PIAA SUPPER BRIGHT bulbs in, better but not great.
i then put in a set of DDM TUNING HIDs 35 watt 6K low beam & a 55 watt 6K hi beam WOW what a difference. i did readjust the angle several times to get it just right & not blinding on coming traffic.
would i recommend the CVO light YES
would i recommend an HID set up YES
i wouldnt mind running the LED light from truck light but i like the HID output.
