So I've been looking into getting slip-ons for my 09 road king because i cant stand it being so quiet anymore. Now my question is can I just get slip-ons without a tuner and be alright for the time being or should I get the tuner to start with and then begin adding exhaust and air intake down the road? I've read so many different posts that I need a tuner and that I don't need a tuner I don't know what to believe anymore. Money is the limiting factor since I'm a college student means one or the other for now. So if I was going to get one would I be alright with slip-on exhaust without a tuner or would a tuner for now and exhaust later be the better option. Any recommendations on a good tuner for the price and a good slip-on set up for the money would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
You can get away with running slipons only and the ECM should take care of it, but as soon as you let more air to the intake you will need the tuner because you will be running lean...slipons or stock.

If on a budget and just looking for better sound for now... I'd go with these and 2.0 baffles. Or.... call Ryan at Rush and see if has some seconds with the "blem's" on the inside where you and nobody else will ever see it once installed.
