Engine problems
My bike is an 06 ultra classic with about 7 thousand miles on a new 88 ci. engine. It has 550 easy start gear cams from S&S, high flow air filter, a race tuner and has been running great. I was out riding Saturday and about 100 miles into the ride the engine started popping, sputtering and running on one cylinder then both for then not off and on all the way home. It wouldn't idle at all. I nursed it home thinking there was water in the gas. I drained the tank but the gas was clean. I went ahead and pulled out the fuel pump assembly and changed the fuel filter and filled the tank with new gas. I also put a new set of spark plugs in and check all the connections and looked for any signs of bad wires or loose connections all over. Still not any better. I don't have a clue what to do next. I don't have any test equipment. anyone experienced this problem? I really hate to take it to a dealer but its looking more like that is the solution. I am not stranded we will be at Leesburg this weekend on my main bike an 08 CUSE 3 ultra classic. Any one that can help with some ideas would be appreciated.
When one cylinder fails intermittently to fire it's almost always an electrical/ignition problem. A fouled plug, a leaking plug wire, a faulty coil, even a dirty battery connection could cause it.
