Hey all. I've done a few searches on this and haven't found much. I'm wondering, for those of you who have used the Biketronics retro radio modules, if you have experienced any problems. I have had a BT 1005 in there for maybe 6 months. It has done fine until now. My hand controls for the radio just quit working the other day. I removed the outer fairing and unplugged the main plug,on the module, then plugged it back in and everything seemed to work again. After riding for just a few minutes I lost all controls again. I can repeat this process of unplugging etc. and will get the control back only to lose it again. On a couple occasions I had some limited controls but it was backwards and not right. I guess my question is this my BT module going out or something else causing this
I had a Biketronics setup with the Sony radio and module which allowed for use of the handle bar controls. Bad experience. The first module would increase and decrease the volume on its own. Called Biketronics, they told me they had never heard of that happening, but sent me a new one. The second one did the same thing. Turned off the radio and went about my way. Next thing I know the radio turns itself on at high volume. Scared the **** outta me. No more.
Wow so this might be the issue. My next move is to call BT. The mechanic at my local shop told be he was on his 3rd module as he has had issues with his stuff. I have basically the same set up as rockajet1 with a Sony head unit and I had noticed a slight increase in volume at times too. Never had lost total controls though. Thanks

Are you are aware that the Biketronics module has AVC? It can be disabled.
Yeah I am aware of the AVC and thought about trying to set it and then un-set it to see if it would wake anything up for me. I have never set the AVC in the first place but who knows. On another note I have contacted Biketronics and they are in the process of sending me another unit.
I had similar issues with mine. Wouldn't allow me to manually change the volume either if the AVC was in the process of changing it. I called and was told they never heard of such an issue. I cut the tach feed to the control and never looked back.....my problem was resolved. I hate AVC.
If you read the directions for the BT you will see that the auto volume control comes pre programed from BT........it is set to turn it up and down you unset this in the left side bar control

I did not know that it was pre-programmed and already set to be on the AVC. I always thought you could activate it if you wanted to. Once I get it worked out all will be good. I do like BT products. Always got to be something to keep you guessing
