Actually less than $20
I had the 3rd brake light from a suburban my daughter totaled. You need 1 1/4-20 extension nut, 1 in. long cut in half. 2 , 1/4-20 button head screws 1/4 in long. 2 #8-32 ss screws with the head cut off, 2 nylock nuts and 10 - ss #8 washers . a 1 in. wide 1/16 thick strip of ss. about 6 in. long. Except for welding the screw to the plate, You can do the rest of it with basic hand tools. I drilled and tapped the plate to mount the # 8 screw, But it must be welded to keep it from coming out by vibration.
Here is the mounts, ready for the light. The power wire is fed through the 1/4 in. hole in the middle where the center bolt to mount the tour pack in the forward position.
That is a good Idea of putting it on top. Personally, I like the smooth look of nothing on the lid, including the rack.
If anyone wants the dimentions for the mounting bracket, I'll be glad to post them.
