As long as you have the filter off. Maybe clean the intake.
I did that too. Wiped out the inside of the filer really well and held it up to a light. It seemed to look pretty good but I'll give it a real clean and re-oil anyway. Can't hurt...
Open the throttle and spray a small amount of cleaner down its throat and let it dry. Go around and touch the bike and make sure stuff is tight. How much fuel is in it. Sometimes my pump makes a weird hissy noise when it get low. Just guessing here.

I am thinking the same here. Course I can't hear it over the internet!
Could also be that you found something you did wrong so you are a bit gun shy now worried and hearing things that were always there. I know I do that after a project.

Since you mentioned it so do I. Any time I work on my bike I hear different noises. Hell I fix a buddy's bike they do the same thing. Hear ghosts in the motor.

I wish that were the case and I know I'm super sensitive to sounds since I just did the re-build but this is definitely a new sound and is very distinct. I'm also not the only one that noticed it. I still have to remove my slip-ons, seal w/ copper sealant and re-install using new clamps. I needed to do this anyway since one of them won't tighten enough. Hopefully this will be the culprit... It's not low fuel as it's done this with the fuel at different levels. I hate problems that can't be figured out!
Have you opened the primary back up? You said it sounded like it was coming from that side.
One other thing to look at, and this probably has nothing to do with the noise, is the back side of the AIM VPC where the raised rounded ridge is and see if it is wearing down, I had that happen and have seen others worn flat also.

That'll be my next step after fixing the loose slip-on. I need to change the primary fluid anyway. I only didthe engine oil because I thought that was more important before i got too far past 1k.
