If you want the stock height you need 12" shocks. If you go with progressive 944 you will also maintain stock height but have increased travel because the 944 is a 13" shock tha sags to 12
It's my understanding that the 944 is more for the streetglide. You maintain the 12" low profile but enjoy the benefits of a shock that acts like a 13". I think of it as a 12" look with a 13" feel. I have a road king so I just ordered the 444. It's a 13" look with a 13" feel.

As stated if you want stock height with the 444 on a SG go with the 12".
I just spoke to the guy at progressive and he didn't recommend going with the 11.5" on the SG.
Now if you go with the 944 it looks like the 13' will give you the same height of the stock 12" SG shocks. http://www.progressivesuspension.com...7&modelID=1014
If you don't have a short inseam, I'd go with the 13" 444. I installed a set for a pal and they ride really nice (and yes I have a set of Ohlins on my Scoot).
i installed the 944's a week ago and they're nice, but i wish i would have got the 444's instead. i'm 6'4" tall and don't need the slammed look. by using the 944's the little spring at the top which looks almost like a slinky, i lose an inch of suspension travel. if i'd have gone with the 444's i'd have the full 3" of suspension travel in the rear, vs the 2" the 944's provide. frank at progressive recommended 3/4" of sag for the 944's. subtracting the 3/4" from the 2" of travel leaves me with a whopping 1-1/4" of effective travel.
