Default BRP VS Nevada report

Ended up going to the BRP because that's what i'd planned. Left OK at 12:30am, stopped in Monroe to see the Duck Commander building. Rode by at 6:40 in the morning, and I think I saw Willie pull up, but I didn't stop because it was early and I know he's busy and I didn't want to freak him out by pulling up as soon as he gets out of his truck! Then rode through Atlanta, which has to be very similar to Hell. North to the BRP on HWY 23, rode by a place with school buses back to back like some crazy prepper, with cars on the hoods of the buses so no one could climb in (or out). Looked at it today on google earth and I think it was a wrecking yard, oh well. Rode the loop from 23 to Asheville before dark. Riding north on the parkway I wondered why the setting sun was on my right, then remembered the BRP goes south before looping back North. Stayed in Asheville, then rode up to Marion Friday morning and back on the BRP Roanoke. The parkway seemed more like a rural highway north of I-77. Too many houses 50 yards off the road. Then I took HWY 33 from Harrisonburg to WV, pretty nice road but there were too many cars slowing me down to really enjoy the road. I did enjoy the old farms on the road. Does anyone know why they don't tear down the abandoned houses and barns? They are cool to see, but around here everybody tears down the old ones and builds new, or just burns them down. Anyway, rode to Louisville to avoid the coming storms. Woke up early yesterday to ride the 910 miles home before supper time (took 13 hours). 3,040 miles in 3 days, trying to avoid storms. Yes I know I probably missed a lot, but when I go back with my wife it will be in a car and we will have to stop and see every damn flower and empty my wallet in all the tourist trap stores. Ultra never missed a beat, now has 16,977 miles. Rode through 4 hours of rain at 80 mph, ran like a top. Fuel milage did suck at 30-33, but I think part of that is the blended fuel. For those of you who don't know, it sure felt great to pull off that effing helmet when I got back to OK. I know it's a choice, but it sure is nice to live in a state where you can make that choice. *** is sore now...

I think you slept through the BRP and are delusional. Sure there are houses along the parkway but NONE as close as you mention. If you have to rush through a trip just to say you did it, what is the point? I have been curious since I first read your proposed plans in the original thread what you would do but you made the wrong choice IMO.
