Default Electrical starting issues - flhtpi

Ok guys, here's the skinny on what happened to me 2005 FLHTPI - 16,XXX miles

Out for a ride yesterday, made about 5 or 6 stops, last stop bike wouldn't start

Noticed something funny in between the last two stops, drove by someone I know, honked the honk, worked fine first, but then got a little muffled, like it was straining....no biggie, past it off

Last stop mentioned it to the group I was with, turned the ignition switch (bike not started) and gave the horn a try......muffled......hmmmm......Tried to start the bike, and heard a pop (like a relay or a fuse), then nothing...

Turned the ignition switch off.....I hear what sounds like a cycling sound, MPH and RPM needles move a bit. Turn the ignition swith back on the start it and nothing.....no start, no clicking, no radio, no lights....ok dead battery I'm thinking. Get a jump pack connect it, bike fires up.....take off jump pack bikes dies.....hmmm....try it again, this time leave jump pack on for a couple minutes, remove it same results, stalls and dies

Negative battery connector was a "Little" loose....not drastic, but I wanted to mention it. Battery was purchased last October (2012), stored inside for the most part didn't have it on a charger. Run to get another battery, of course no one had any.

Now I'm thinking bad charging system. Hook up Jump pack, start bike, with bike running checked with volt meter, revved engine, volt meter increased and deceased when off the gas......Battery is under warranty, getting one tonight...

What do you guys think, just the battery or?........Thnx in advance

it sounds to me like there is loose or bad connection to the battery, I would check both ends of the neg. cable by removeing them and cleaning where it meets the frame and the battery, then check the pos. at the battery by removeing it and cleaning it...also I would charge the battery and then take it to have it load tested..
