You'll find that the heat is a result of the catalytic converter located on the right side of your new Glide... (some MOCO engineer got paid a lot of money to design that wonderful feature)
The search feature will lead you to many many possible solutions....
actually...all good suggestions, my solution was the floorboard extension, kuryakyn...it's like a 1" kit that places the footboards outboard by 1"...the kit sold is for both sides, i only installed the right one...same problem as yours...good luck

I hope you don't wind up regretting the kuryakyn.......
I wouldn't recommend that brand to my worse enemy.

There not a lot of stuff I would buy from kuryakyn. But I do have there 1 plus 1 floor board re-locators and they have been on the bike for 3 year without a problem and I do like the foot placement.
As for the heat, I have a set of hwy pegs and I have them placed so that the back of my heel is on the floor board and the ball of my foot is on the peg. very comfortable, quick off the peg to the brake and very little engine heat on my leg.
Replace the head pipe, you'll be glad you did.
Finish it off with slip-ons, hi-flow intake and a tuner to wake your engine up and you'll be cruising in style.
